Anita Alcala age 77 of Amarillo died Thursday July 28, 2011.
Rosary will be said at Sunday July 31, 2011 at 7:00 PM. in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday August 1, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with celebrants Father Jose Gomez and Msgr. Rex Knoll officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. There isn’t going to be a public viewing. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur St.
Anita was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Nick and Juanita Garcia on April 16, 1934. She graduated from Saint Mary’s Academy. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and was a member of the Rosary Society and Adoration Society. She had worked for Glenwood Elementary School and the Opportunity School as a teacher’s aid. She retired from Coffee Memorial Blood Bank and as a LVN at North West Texas Hospital. She had many hobbies and was very talented. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and gardening and was a fabulous cook who would cook for anyone. The greatest joy in her life was her family and spending time with her grandkids. She had a passion for her faith and religion.
Preceded in death by her parents; her son Phillip Alcala; two sisters, and one brother.
Survived by one daughter, Roni Griego of Amarillo; two sons, Nick Alcala and wife, Vivian of Frisco, Texas, and Frankie Bobby Alcala of Amarillo; the father of her children, Willie Ramirez Alcala; eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
