Byron Roy Klein Sr., 90, of Amarillo passed away peacefully on March 13, 2022.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 10am in the Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. G.A. Roach officiating.
Byron was born on June 14, 1931 in Kearney, Nebraska to Robert and Cumming Anne (Webster) Klein. He graduated from Breckenridge High School and served in the Army Reserves.
On October 6, 1951, Byron would marry his beloved Barbara Anne Craig and they shared nearly 70 years of marriage until Barbara’s passing in August of 2021. Together they would raise four children. Byron was an incredibly hard worker. His hands were always occupied by a tool or something that suited one of his hobbies. By trade, Byron was an Aircraft Instrument Mechanic, and he would sure let you know he was part of the top tier in the business.
Byron found joy in working in his garden. He could plant, cultivate, and harvest just about anything he could think of. While his garden was growing, he would sit near by working on one of his wooden creations to occupy his time.
Byron was preceded in death by his beloved Barbara, parents, brothers Robert, James, and Glenn Klein, sister Ruth Nelson; daughter in law Terri Klein, and granddaughter Melissa Klein. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters Karen Klein, Debra Somerville and husband Teddy, Carolyn Gray and husband Todd, son Byron R. Klein Jr.; sister Grace Fauga, brother William Klein, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as many other loving family and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in honor of Byron R. Klein Sr. to the American Heart Association, 6605 Interstate 40 West, Amarillo, TX. 79106.
