Celia Martinez

Celia Martínez, de 87 años de Vega, entró al Cielo el día de Navidad de 2024.

La visita se realizará el viernes 27 de diciembre de 2024, de 3:15 p. m. a 4:15 p. m. en la Iglesia Católica de la Inmaculada Concepción en Vega, Texas. La misa fúnebre tendrá lugar inmediatamente a las 16.30 horas. El celebrante será el reverendo Mitch Przepiora.

Celia nació el 5 de abril de 1937 en Chihuahua, México. Sus padres fueron Salvador Salinas e Ignacia Flores.

Se casó con Dimas Martínez el 7 de diciembre de 1956 en Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, México. La pareja estuvo casada durante cincuenta y un años cuando Dimas murió en 2007 y había criado doce hijos. La familia se mudó a Wildorado en 1979 antes de establecerse en Vega más tarde.

La hora de comer siempre era especial, ya que toda la familia se reunía alrededor de la mesa. A la familia le encantó el Día de Acción de Gracias, especialmente el aderezo de Celia, ya que nadie podía hacerlo como ella.

Tenía pasión y don para el acolchado y, a lo largo de su vida, hizo más de cien edredones diferentes para hijos, nietos y amigos. Celia era una mujer muy amable y de voz suave. Era generosa y le encantaba compartir todo lo que tenía.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres; su marido Dimas; sus hermanos, Cecilio, Rogelio y Pedro Salinas; una hija, Diana Martínez; y una bisnieta, Kiana Castillo.

A Celia le sobreviven once hijos: Lucy Rascón de Vega, Marisela Castillo de México, Bertha Martínez y su esposo Miguel Chávez de St. Louis, Missouri, Lorena Ordóñez y su esposo Sergio de Vega, Ana Martínez y su esposo Nicolás González de Yukon, Oklahoma, Carlos Martínez de Adrián, Dimas Martínez y esposa Neima de Vega, Emilio Martínez y su esposa Lily de Lubbock, Salvador Martínez de Vega, Manuel Martínez de Lubbock y Luis Martínez de México; tres hermanos, Álvaro Salinas de Arizona, Manuel Salinas de México y Ramón Salinas de Arizona; treinta y un nietos; y treinta y nueve bisnietos.

Celia Martinez, age 87 of Vega, entered into Heaven on Christmas Day, 2024.

A viewing will be on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 3:15 PM until 4:15 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Vega, Texas. The funeral mass will follow immediately at 4:30 PM. The celebrant will be Rev. Mitch Przepiora. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur, Amarillo, Texas.

Celia was born on April 5, 1937, in Chihuahua, Mexico. Her parents were Salvador Salinas and Ignacia Flores. 

She married Dimas Martinez on December 7, 1956 in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico. The couple was married for fifty-one years when Dimas died in 2007 and had raised twelve children. The family moved to Wildorado in 1979 before making their home in Vega later.

Mealtime was always special, as the entire family gathered around the table. The family loved Thanksgiving, especially Celia’s stuffing, as no one could make it quite like her. 

She had a passion and gift for quilting, and throughout her life, she made over one hundred different quilts for children, grandchildren, and friends. Celia was a very kind, soft-spoken woman. She was generous and loved to share anything she had. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dimas; her brothers, Cecilio, Rogelio, and Pedro Salinas; a daughter, Diana Martinez; and a great-granddaughter, Kiana Castillo.

Celia is survived by eleven children: Lucy Rascon of Vega, Marisela Castillo of Mexico, Bertha Martinez and her husband Miguel Chavez of St. Louis, Missouri, Lorena Ordonez and her husband Sergio of Vega, Ana Martinez and her husband Nicolas Gonzalez of Yukon, Oklahoma, Carlos Martinez of Adrian, Dimas Martinez and wife Neima of Vega, Emilio Martinez and his wife Lily of Lubbock, Salvador Martinez of Vega, Manuel Martinez of Lubbock and Luis Martinez of Mexico; three brothers, Alvaro Salinas of Arizona, Manuel Salinas of Mexico and Ramon Salinas of Arizona; thirty-one grandchildren; and thirty-nine great-grandchildren.
