Damacio Luna Cortinaz, age 63 of Amarillo passed away on April 22, 2012.
Graveside services will be in Scottsbluff Nebraska on Thursday, April 26 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur.
Damacio was born on April 24, 1948 in Ballinger, Texas to Joe and Eugenia (Luna) Cortinas. He was a man of strength having overcome polio as a child. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. On April 2, 1971, he married Gloria Villegas and together they raised a beautiful family. Damacio enjoyed Bowling, playing pool, swimming, fishing and while in Vietnam, he learned martial arts.
He is survived by Gloria, his bride of 41 years; four daughters, Monica Cortinaz, Maria Rosario Cortinaz, Terresa Cortinaz and Francis Vidal and husband Anthony; six grandchildren, Naomi Rivas, Angelica Rivas, Juan Rivas, Jr., Damina Vidal, Kissah Vidal and Anthony Vidal; two great grandchildren, Jasper M. Rodriguez and Alexander Wilson, all of Amarillo; 2 sisters, Elida Aguayo and husband Ruben, Anna Barragan; three brothers, George Cortinez, Sr., Johnny Cortinas and wife Jan and Pete L. Cortinas, all of Nebraska.
