DANA HOWARD BLACK, age 67 of Amarillo, died January 16, 2015 in Amarillo.
No formal services are planned, however the family will gather in honor of Dana and to reminisce on his life. Friends are invited to attend on Friday evening at 4:00 PM at the family's home.
Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 South Arthur.
Dana was born May 23, 1947 in Pampa to Samuel Howard and Georgia Hazel Black. He served in the United States Army before starting his work in the construction industry.
Dana was described as being one of “Amarillo’s original hippies;” a free spirit, living life on his own terms. Some might even call him a rebel, he experienced life and travel in unconventional ways, but always head on.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel and a sister, Linda Elizabeth Addison.
Dana is survived by his mother, Hazel Black; his two daughters, Dana Michelle Miller of Colorado and Annabelle Joy Roney of Oregon; his two sisters Sherri Rekita of Arlington and Susan Bailey of Bushland; and his brother Tim Black of Goodnight.
The family suggests memorials to be made to a favorite charity.
