DAVID WAYNE PRATER, age 62 of Amarillo, died January 4, 2014 in Amarillo.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur.
David was born in Wheeler, Texas to Verneal and Juanita Prater on January 30, 1951. He proudly served his country in both the US Navy and US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.
He never met a stranger and could engage in conversation with friends and strangers alike; however, no one remained a stranger to David for long.
He had a kind spirit and was drawn to all animals, but had a fondness for birds, particularly Sam and Bubba. He also loved to fish at Roman Nose Lake in Oklahoma.
David is survived by his daughter, Shannon Blue-Frick and her husband, William of Yukon, OK; his son Jonathan David Prater of Amarillo; two sisters, Mary Lou Carter of Briscoe, Texas and Wanda Prater of Amarillo; and by his two grandchildren, Madison and Macie Hatcher
