David Durrett Rollins

August 17, 1986 — March 6, 2018

David Durrett Rollins, 31, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 6th in Amarillo, TX after a long struggle with PTSD.  David was a devoted Son, Grandson and a beloved Brother, Nephew and Uncle.  He was loved by all including his Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends; too many to name. He was born on August 17, 1986 in Weirton, WV.

David will be remembered as the kid with the smile and the sparkling blue eyes.  The one who stood up first to defend his family and friends and the fearless, brave one who was always up for a challenge or adventure.    He will be most remembered as his father’s sidekick and his mother’s protector.

David proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army as a Military Police (MP) having served tours in Iraq in the service of his country he was so proud of.  He was awarded the Army commendation Medal, numerous achievement medals, as well as the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.  His many war buddies agree that if they could pick one person to share a foxhole with it would be David.   He was currently enrolled at Amarillo College.

David was preceded in death by his grandfather, William M. Brown of Colliers, WV

He is survived by his Parents, Walter and Priscilla Rollins of Amarillo, TX, his Brother, William (Kindy) Rollins, his Sister, Melissa Rollins and Nephew, Michael Rollins.

David is also survived by his Grandmother, Shirley Brown of Cuyahoga Falls, Oh and his Aunts and Uncles Amber Parsons (William) of Gwinn, MI, Terra Brown of Wichita Falls, TX, Billie Flick of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Michele Formica (Richard) of Palm Bay, FL, Susan Zimmerman of Matlacha, FL, Kathleen Klush (Frank) of Oklahoma City, OK,  Mary Mannella of Satellite Beach, FL.  David was like a brother to his many cousins who loved him dearly.

A Celebration of Life for David will be held on March 10, 2018 at 3pm at Texas Panhandle War Memorial 4101 S. Georgia St Amarillo, TX 79109
