Pastor David Gene Scott passed away from advanced kidney disease on the day of his big 70th birthday Friday June 21st, 2019. Members of his family held vigil by his side from Thursday through the time of his death. His daughter Robin and friend Rachel held his hands as he departed this world for the next at 3:15pm.

Memorial service will be held on Friday June 28th, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of New Beginnings at 2504 S. Williams 79103. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home.

David was born in Childress, Texas, on June 21st, 1949, to parents Glenna Bell Scott and Earl Wiley Scott. David is proceeded in death by his parents, older sister Linda Morales, and stepson Jonathan Peoples. He is survived by: his older brother Steve Scott of Florida, younger sister Karen Bradshaw of Amarillo; his daughter Robin Scott, and stepson Phillip Peoples both of Amarillo, as well as his nephew Josh Bradshaw, niece Jennifer Bradshaw, great nephew Christian Bradshaw, and great nieces Echo and Bella Bradshaw, as well as extended family members such as Billy and Dean, and many friends, all of whom he loved dearly.

David will be remembered as a man of faith, child of God, a good brother, a good friend, a loving uncle, an unconditionally loving father; and an old timey rock & roller. A memorial service to celebrate David’s birthday and reflect on his life will be held at The Church of New Beginnings at 2504 S. Williams (zip code 79103, with Pastor Connie Snider officiating. The gathering will be to remember him as he once was so there will not be a viewing, as David finally got that smoking hot bod he always wanted (he made this joke in his final month.) This will be his last birthday party and the family asks you to note there will not be a book to sign, instead there will be birthday cards for all to sign and his daughter to keep.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Vibra Hospital, Five Points, BSA hospital, and especially the staff at BSA Hospice of the Southwest for helping the family to celebrate his birthday as well as support him through his death. The family asks that memorials be made for David to BSA Hospice of the Southwest and The Church of New Beginnings.
