Donald Ray Hollingsworth

Donald Ray Hollingsworth, of Amarillo died November 15, 2022.

Don was born October 14, 1948. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1966. He married Kathleen Hodges on October 10, 1969. He then attended Amarillo College and West Texas A & M obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in1992. Don started out in the Radio business – and was a disk jockey at his dad’s radio station KRAY radio while in college.  Later moved to TV and worked at all local stations over the years.

He later changed careers and went to work for the Williams Boyce Insurance Agency in Life Insurance.  He then went to work for Lincoln National Life and moved to Lubbock as the office manager.  When the office there closed, he came back to Amarillo and moved into Health Insurance.  He and opened The Health Insurance Network of Texas in 1992 and was an independent agent for many years.

He was very active in the Amarillo Downtown Lions Club for many years, serving as president from 1987-1988. He loved kids sports and was a soccer coach for his daughter and then later for the grandkids – just loved watching them play – win or lose. He loved playing golf and was on the green with his golfing buddies every chance he got. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad – was always a special time for them both. He also loved working in the yard and was always proud of how it looked. Don enjoyed working with wood and building things and most of all, he loved his kids!!!

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ellen Hollingsworth; and a brother, Jerry Ray Hollingsworth.

He is survived by his spouse, Kathleen Hodges Hollingsworth; 1 daughter, Coryell Hollingsworth; brother, Robert Ray Hollingsworth; and grandchildren, Zane Hollingsworth, Brenden Rodriquez, Zoe Hollingsworth

The family suggest memorials be made to BSA Hospice or Harrington Cancer Center.
