Doris Marie Christian

Doris Marie Christian, 88, of Amarillo, passed peacefully with her daughter at her side on April 21, 2025.

Doris was born on October 19, 1936, to parents Roy and Cliffie Richmond in Turkey. Doris married her sweetheart Homer Christian on September 18, 1955, and they began a love story that spanned over 63 years, creating a wonderful family.

Every summer vacation, you would find Doris in the great outdoors; this was her happy place. She and Homer would go on trips to fish, camp, and enjoy time in Colorado. This love of nature was passed down to their two children, resulting in yearly trips to Colorado, where they created many memories. One of the best memories is Doris’s cooking skills. Whether cooking the fish they caught on trips or creating excellent family meals, her cooking was always fantastic and filled with care. She was also crafty, painting T-shirts and jackets to give them a special flair. You would see this creativity spark back up around Christmas time, where she would turn the house into a winter wonderland, going all out every year.

However, the most essential thing about Doris is that she loved being a wife and mother. She took pride in her family, showering them with love and constantly telling them how special they were to her. This dedication also translated into her working career, where she spent many years as a secretary at Sleepy Hollow Elementary until her retirement.

Doris is preceded in death by both parents, her sweetheart, Homer Christian; her son, Scott Christian; her niece, Rita McCoy; her nephew, Mike McCoy; her sister, Ollie; and two brothers, JD and JC.

Those left behind to carry on her love include her daughter Tasha Christian, sister Dovie McCoy, four nieces Becca, Donna, Debbie, Lorri, and three nephews Richard, Roger, and Jay.
