Edward Clay Rodriguez

February 15, 1962 — February 10, 2023

Amarillo

Edward Clay Rodriguez was met at the gates of Heaven by his parents and his granddaughter on February 10, 2023 in Amarillo.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Edward was born on February 15, 1962 in Littlefield, Texas to his parents Arturo and Rose Barilla Mendoza.  He married Dora Villegas when the couple were very young on November 17, 1978.   Their marriage and family would grow and blossom for the next forty four years, until his death.

If anything could be said about Edward it was that he was passionate about his family.  He loved them fiercely.  He was strong and protective of them all.  He was devastated by the loss of his parents and never completely got over their loss, yet he carried on.

Edward could do anything!  He was the epitome of a handy man, mechanic, and jack of all trades!  He became a master of many things!  He loved restoring old classic cars, low riders and could rebuild them from the ground up.  He was especially fond of his T-bird and Harleys.

He was a good provider for his family and absolutely adored his grandchildren.  A generous man, he went above and beyond for anyone that needed a helping hand.  He was a brave man and fought his illness hard, but ultimately he became tired. Yet he still continued to fight and do things his way! He entered into heaven at home surrounded by his family, exactly how he wanted it.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents;  by a granddaughter, Angel Mary; andby his great grandson Davahjey Jr.

He survived by his wife, Dora; his two daughters, Dorothy West and her husband David and Estella Alaniz and her husband Daniel all of Amarillo; by his two sons, Eddie Rodriguez and Albert Rodriguez and his wife Yesenia all of Amarillo; by his younger brother, Arturo Mendoza Jr also of Amarillo; his grandchildren, Angelica, Marissa, Damian. Christopher, Zackary, Olivia, Josiah, Jakob, Jaylee, Elyissa, Alizaia, Jordan, E.J., Danica, Maliyah, Hailey, Selina, Alex, Viola, Damian, Laylah, and Mariah: and his great grandchildren Jaylen, Kinsley, Dae’Zaun, Santiago, Anthony.
