Edwin Gene Stine, 84, of Borger, died Monday, July 3, 2017.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, July 7, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Church in Borger, Texas. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur, Amarillo, TX.
Gene was born July 28, 1932 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Henry Stine and Elsie McCaw Stine.
Gene grew up on a farm in Okemah where he learned to drive a tractor and milk cows. He developed an amazing work ethic. He later moved to Kansas City where he worked for both General Motors and Phillips Petroleum for up to 16 hours daily. He chose to continue his career with Phillips Petroleum which brought him to Borger, Texas.
Gene loved his country and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Gene always found the best in people no matter what their circumstances. He never met a stranger, and considered everyone a friend. He provided everyone with the true meaning of unconditional love. Gene always found happiness in the simplest things in life. His life portrayed the true meaning of living by the Lord’s purpose.
Gene loved God, his family, his country, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Twila Stine; his son, Jessie Paul Stine and his wife Karen; his grandchildren, Joshua, Jayden and Jonathan Stine; David Henderson; his step-children, Kathy Tillery and her husband Jerry and Robert Ross and his wife Denise; and many friends and family.
