Frances Louise Hawn Willbanks

January 24, 1928 — June 22, 2020

Frances Louise Hawn Willbanks, 92, died June 22, 2020 after a short illness at Five Point Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she had resided for the past 1 ½ years.

She was born on January 24, 1928, in Lubbock, Texas, the daughter of Dallas Irving Hawn and Stella Stoll Hawn.

She attended Lubbock schools before enrolling at Texas Tech University, where she met and in 1947 married Richard Willbanks. Richard had recently returned from duty in the Navy during World War II.  Although she spent her life as a housewife and early on had two sons, she did return to college at West Texas State University intending to complete her degree in Education. The birth of her daughter interrupted those plans.

She was an avid reader all her life and in her later years enjoyed spending time with her Grandchildren.  She was a founding member of the St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Amarillo and attended services there until poor health caused her to enter residential care.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, on April 30, 2019 and her younger sister, Dorothy Jean Sims on May 30, 2020 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Frances is survived by 3 children, Steve (Stephanie) Willbanks of Strafford Vermont, Tom Willbanks of Amarillo,  Connie (Jim) Rudder of Amarillo, 5 Granchildren - Allison Willbanks, Simon Willbanks, Joshua (Rachel) Rudder, Jacob Rudder,  and Jordyn Rudder; as well as, several Nieces and Nephews.

She will be interred in a family burial plot in Vernon.
