Gavina “Minnie” Guillen, 79, of Amarillo, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 in Amarillo.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 22, 2016 at San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford with Mnsgr. Joe Bixenman as celebrant. Inurnment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur, Amarillo, TX 79103.
Minnie was born on February 19, 1937 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Jose and Presciana Gallegos. She married Juan Guillen in 1954. She was a Registered Nurse working most of her career in Hereford. She was also active in the Catholic church in Hereford, as well as at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Amarillo and a member of the Guadalupanas.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Johnny Guillen; her daughter, Angie Guillen; her grandson, Armando Rico; three sisters; and one brother.
Minnie is survived by one daughter, Norma Trevino of Amarillo; three sons, Jesse Guillen and wife, Veronica of Amarillo, Jose Ramiro Guillen and Mark Anthony Guillen, both of Hereford; one sister, Agapita Pena of Weslaco; one brother, Jack Gallegos of Amarillo; twenty two grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
