Hortencia (Galvan) Rodriguez

Hortencia Rodriguez, 89, of Amarillo passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 12, 2022.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 10am to 5pm at Angel Funeral Home. The family will receive guests from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 2pm at New Life Church, 406 S. Pittsburg with Pastor Spike Maldonado presiding. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery East.

Hortencia was born May 21, 1933 in Stockdale, TX to Florencio and Mariana Galvan. She was raised in Anson, TX, Lamesa, TX, and Plainview, TX. Hortencia married Santos Rodriguez on September 17, 1954. At a young age, she helped her mother with her siblings when her father passed away. She always was a hard worker and willing to help others. Hortencia wanted to feed anyone that came thru her door. She was a crusiesta and was very active at Sacred Heart Church in the kitchen cooking when she lived in Plainview.

She is preceded in death by sons, Albert and Santos Rodriguez, Jr.; grandsons, Bobby Jackson, Timothy Rodriguez, and Rocky Rodriguez; four sisters; and six brothers.

Hortencia is survived by her husband, Santos G Rodriguez; daughters, Esmeralda Fierro (Richard), Mikaela Delgado (Juan), and Sylvia Cortes and (Jose Angel Flores sons, Reynaldo Rodriguez (Dominga), Martin Rodriguez (Barbra), and Ricardo Rodriguez (Sandra); daughter-in-law, Jo Rodriguez; sisters, Elodia Chapa (Albert), Juanita Gonzalez (Pedro), and Eva Galvan; brothers, Elijio Galvan (Lupe) and Raul Jimenez; 32 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 35 great great-grandchildren.
