James (Jim) Arthur Burr of Amarillo died January 24, 2021, at his home in Amarillo, Texas.
James born March 31, 1943, at the old Tucker Memorial Hospital in Elkhart, Kansas to Floyd and Esther (Horton) Burr. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1961 and went on to attend Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma for 3 years. He worked for Halliburton in Great Bend, Hugoton, Liberal, Kansas, and Lamar, Colorado. Retiring early, he went on to own his own business, Burrs’ Towing Service in Liberal, Kansas. After several years, he moved from Liberal to Amarillo, Texas and worked for William P. Clements Potter County Prison from which he retired. He married Mary Rose Widiger on January 7, 1967, and later divorced on January 7, 1982. To this union, came two beautiful daughters, Carla and Linda, whom he adored and were the center of his life.
His hobbies and interests included woodworking, guns, spending time with his daughters and visiting extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Floyd and Esther Burr. He is survived by his daughters, Carla Burr and Linda Cannon and husband, Joe; brother, Ed and wife, Becky; nephew, Devin Burr and wife, Amy and their sons, Austin and Callen Burr; niece, Mikell Burr and her sons, Finn and Max Lappin.
Memorial Service for Jim will be later as cremation has taken place.
