Jerry Wayne Carter

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 12th, at Angel Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 13th, at Emanuel Church of God and Christ at 900 N. Adams, at 2:00 p.m.  Rev. Charles Carter will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, TX. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Bio: Jerry Wayne Carter was born on June 19, 1956 to Oscar and Altha Carter in Amarillo, Texas. He was a local evangelistic minister for over 45 years. Jerry was a devoted Christian that was loved by everyone he met. He always had a concern for his fellow man. Jerry was a loving husband to wife Janice for 28 years. He was always visiting the local parks and city streets to do community outreach to help spread the word of God.   He is preceded in death by his brother Oscar Carter and father Oscar Carter Sr.He is survived by wife Janice Carter of Ft. Worth, Texas; mother Altha Carter of Amarillo; brothers Melvin Carter of Amarillo, Texas, Perry Carter of Amarillo, Texas, Charles Carter of Kansas City, Missouri, Norman Carter of Amarillo, Texas, Joe Carter of North Carolina; daughter Lashonda Carter of Ft. Worth, Texas; step daughters, Trina Graves and Elaine Carter of Ft. Worth, Texas; aunts Alma Taylor of Kansas City, KS, Ernistine Ewing of Ft. Worth, Texas; grand daughter Allison Wise of Ft. Worth, Texas.In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Emmanuel Church God and Christ at 900 N. Adams, Amarillo, Texas 79107.
