Jimmy Edward Padilla Sr., 59, of Amarillo, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on April 28, 2024.
Public viewing will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, from 9 am to 5 pm, at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur. Mass will take place on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 10 am at San Miguel Del Vado Catholic Church, 7 Sagebrush Way, Ribera, New Mexico. Prior to Mass, Rosary will be said at 9 am. The interment will take place at San Jose Cemetery.
Jimmy was born on August 7, 1964, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Isidro and Josephine “Josie” (Trujillo) Padilla. He graduated from Pecos High School and was a St. Laurance Catholic Church of Amarillo member. On March 30, 2024, he married Francis Porras. Though it seemed a short time, Francis and Jimmy spent 21 years faithfully devoted to each other.
Jimmy was the epitome of the life of the party. He loved to cook for the entire family and have get-togethers whenever they could. Jimmy would be behind the grill or standing front and center, singing every tune that was being played or that he knew by memory. He was incredibly family-oriented and loved having his children, bonus children, and all of the grandkids in his life.
Aside from his love of family, Jimmy was a “re-purposer”. He would find old grills in alleys and take them home to be refurbished. At one time, he had 10 grills. Grills were not the only thing he found and brought back to life. He believed everything had value and that one man’s junk was another man’s treasure. His most valued material item was his 1994 Chevrolet Silverado, which he bought brand new. To this day, it is still in pristine condition and exceptionally well cared for. Jimmy believed if you took care of things, they would always last.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his brother Christoval and several uncles.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Francis Padilla, daughters, Deneen Espinosa, Rebecca Aguilar, and husband, Oscar and Cassandra Cavazos, sons, Jimmy Padilla and wife, Yessica; Chris Padilla and wife, Kenya, and Damian Cavazos and wife, Jody; 14 grandchildren, his dog Oso, and Parrott Tweety who have been faithful companion for over 30 years. Jimmy also leaves his parents, Isidro and Josie Padilla, sisters, Mary Ellen Trujillo and husband, Ray, Lorraine Sedillo and husband, Matt, and Lori, brother, Leroy Padilla and wife, Christine, and many extended family and dear friends.
