John was born on March 23, 1953 in Amarillo, Texas to Pedro and Juanita (Ybarra) Rodriguez. He was a lifelong resident of Amarillo and a graduate of Carprock High School. John was a deeply devoted family man who loved spending time with his family making memories. He loved a good family get together and cookout, and he was an incredible cook in his younger years working for Country Barn and The Amarillo Country Club to name a few. John was a master Horseshoe player who could ring just about every throw. He also became a pretty exceptional cornhole player. John had a deep and lasting friendship with his wife Francisca. Although they were separated, they remained the best of friends and never actually divorced. They enjoyed going out to dinner and spending time together as often as possible.
John was an incredibly hard worker. He had to stay busy. He worked so hard to provide for his family and instilled a “hard work pays off” work ethic in all of them. When he wasn’t busy, which was rare, John enjoyed his alone time studying his Bible. Over the last several years of his life, John became a born again Christian and had an amazing relationship with God the Father. John was the best Dad, and this led to others in his family to becoming exceptional parents in their own right. John was shy and timid when you first met him. But after getting to know you for a while, he opened up and would become a friend for life.
John is preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Juanita. Those left to cherish his memories are his dearest Francisca, daughters Bianca Rodriguez, Cynthia Diaz, and Stephanie Cruth and husband Brayden, sons John Rodriguez and wife Maria and Raul Diaz; sisters Patsy Melton and Ruth Montez, brothers Raymond and Pete Rodriguez, as well as his 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and many other loving family and dear friends.
