Johnny Dale Meredith

Johnny Dale Meredith, 88, of Amarillo passed away August 17, 2021.

Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2021 at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home.

Dale was born in Purcell, OK on February 13, 1933 to John Wesley and Mamie Meredith. He graduated from Purcell High School where he played football, basketball and ran track in which he was selected on the 1950 All Decade Football Team. Dale proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Richardson in Alaska.

On August 5, 1957, Dale married Peggy Joyce Somerville in Amarillo, TX and later moved to Fairfield, CA. He was employed as Produce Manager at Mare Island Commissary in Vallejo, CA until his retirement then he and Peggy returned to Amarillo.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; brothers, Raymond, Kenneth and Denny Meredith; and sisters, Ruby Henry and Thelma Thrasher.
