Jonathan "Catfish" Paul Evans

February 23, 1955 — March 3, 2025

Amarillo

Jonathan “Catfish” Paul Evans, 70, of Amarillo, traded in his earthly vessel for an eternal rod and reel, then headed to the big lake in the sky on March 3, 2025.

A celebration of Catfish’s life will be held at a later date.

Catfish was born on February 23, 1955 in Tucson, Arizona to Roland and Gertrude (Protuy) Evans. As apparent by his nickname, Catfish took up angling at a young age and loved it throughout his 70 years on Earth. He spent many hours on various lakes, ponds, or his many “Secret Spots” hoping to land the biggest fish in the water.

Catfish was a handyman. If it leaked, he stopped it. If it was loose, he tightened it. No matter the task, Catfish had the right tool and knowledge to get the job done; and there was no job too big. He was as reliable as they come. He kept a very tight, strong inner circle of friends whom he loved as though they were family. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone and always gave people the benefit of the doubt.

Catfish is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife Vicki of the home, and his numerous family and cherished friends.
