Jose Carrasco Apodaca, age 88 of Amarillo died September 25, 2016 in Amarillo
A rosary will be said at 6 PM on Tuesday, September 26, 2016 at Angel Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur.
Jose was born in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico on March 5, 1928 to his parents Antonio Carrasco and Tomasa Apodaca. He married Petra Salinas in 1952 in Mexico. The family moved to Amarillo in 1998.
Jose was a masterful mechanic and could fix and repair almost anything. He was a generous man that ensured even those without means had safe transportation. Jose was friendly and outgoing; he never knew a stranger and welcomed everyone he met. He was a social man and gifted storyteller. He enjoyed sharing stories with his friends and family alike. Although he had many passions and talents his life revolved around his family. He was a family orientated man and received great joy from his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Petra in 2006 and by one brother, Antonio.
He is survived by 9 children; Maria Cervantes, Lucia Carrasco, Elva Perez all of Amarillo; Josefina Carrasco of Guadalajara, Mexico, Juan Antonio Carrasco of Houston, Dora Reynoso, Celia Carrasco, Martha Trinidad all of Amarillo, and Lorena Carrasco of Chihuahua, Mexico; three sisters, Socorro Carrasco, Celia Carrasco and Luz Carrasco all of Mexico; and one brother, Exiquio Carrasco of Chihuahua, Mexico; 25 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
