Jovita “Elia” Cruz passed away suddenly on March 19, 2023, in Amarillo, TX, at the age of 67. She was born in Michigan. She worked in the dry-cleaning business and loved what she did until she retired. She was outgoing and full-spirited, making so many friends everywhere she went. Jovita loved helping in any way she could and had a heart of gold. She married Jose Renee Cruz on August 13, 1997.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Cruz; mother, Maria Pena; father, Leonardo Garza Garcia; and brother Leonardo Garcia Jr.

Jovita is survived by her two sons, Joe Guerra and wife Melinda Guerra of Lubbock, TX, and Isaac Campos and wife Sheila Campos of Petersburg, TX. She also leaves behind three sisters Maria Ramona Garcia of Amarillo, TX, Maria Elena of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Patricia Garcia of San Antonio. Three brothers, Paul Garcia and Manuel Yzaguirre Jr., of Amarillo, TX, and Andrew Flores and wife, Paige Flores, of Dallas, TX area. She also leaves five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Her family has chosen cremation.
