Juan Jose Oliva Jr, 72, of Amarillo, passed away on March 8, 2025, in Pampa, Texas.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur, from 9 am to 11 am. Funeral services will begin at 11 am.
Juan was born on November 9, 1952, in Havana, Cuba to Juan Jose Sr and Yolanda (Negron) Oliva. At the age of 13, he and his family migrated to the United States where they would begin their lives as US citizens. When Juan was 15, he began his education at Job Corps in San Angelo, Texas. There he obtained a welding certificate and began the first chapter of his work life. After a few years of fabrication, Juan found himself working in the oil fields in various positions for many years. He “Retired” from the oil field, but felt the need to continue to work. Juan obtained his CDL and began driving trucks for the City of Amarillo for a short period of time before finally retiring. Juan was a dedicated and hardworking man.
On June 2, 1984, in Amarillo, Texas, Juan exchanged vows with Sherry Ashley and the two began their lives together.
Juan is preceded in death by both of his parents. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Sherry, daughters, Maricella Oliva-Hill and Sheryl Baldwin, sons, Andrew J. Oliva, Enrique J. Oliva, and Richard Baldwin, granddaughter, Tiana Hill; sister, Barbara Oliva, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
