Judith Ann Wright

April 13, 1942 — March 1, 2023

Judith (Judy) Ann Hamilton Wright, 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. She asked for no funeral services and we hope you will celebrate her life in your own special way.

Judy was born on April 13, 1942, at the old NW Texas Hospital on West 6th St in Amarillo. Her parents T.Lloyd and Ruby J. Hamilton predeceased her, as did her husband of forty years Howard (Tuffy) Wright. She is survived by two daughters, Denise Nicole (Nikki) Garcia and husband Steve, and Kellie Jones and husband Kent. Also surviving are one sister, Peggy Joyce Hamilton, two grandsons, Kasey and Kenny Jones, plus nephews, David Evans, Daryl Furr, and Steve Faigen.

A graduate of Tascosa High School and WTSU, Judy taught school in Amarillo for 29 years, primarily for second graders at Southlawn Elementary School. She retired when grandson Kasey was born, delighted to become his babysitter. On Saturdays, Judy and sister Peggy were a familiar sight lunching at local restaurants and shopping plant nurseries pushing Kasey in his stroller.

When Judy encountered former students, without exception she remembered their names even after they had become grandparents too. Seventeen years ago, she and Sister moved two doors apart and continued to enjoy many activities together including reading, gardening, dining and bingo, often joined by friends or offspring. Judy created a rich and happy life which she is undoubtedly still doing in Heaven. She is already missed here.
