Linda was born in Amarillo on September 19, 1947 to Roy F. and Arene Doerfler. She attended Catholic School graduating from St. Mary’s Academy in 1965, continuing to West Texas State University to earn an education degree, continuing on to Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford, OK to earn her Masters in Education. She taught school for ten years in Corpus Christi, Silverton and Alamo Catholic. While teaching at Alamo she taught science and was the girls Athletic Director. In 1975 she led the Varsity Girl’s Basketball Team to a state championship as head coach. In 1979 she entered UTSA Dental School and graduated in June of 1983. Linda returned to Amarillo where she was the first female dentist to practice in Amarillo.Linda was active in many areas of the Amarillo community including the Soroptomists and Toastmaster’s Clubs. A devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Linda was a member of the St. Mary’s Rosary Alter Society, member of the St. Mary’s Academy School Board and the Planning Committee for Ascension Academy, NCCW and the Province Director 2004-2006 and was awarded the Woman of the Year for Diocesan Council for Catholic Women in 2009.Linda was survived by her mother, Arene Doerfler of Amarillo, TX and Weslaco, TX; one sister, Ellen and husband John of Weslaco, TX; four brothers, Jere Doerfler and wife Cathy of Lawton, OK, Richard Doerfler of Amarillo, TX, Matthew Doerfler and wife Julie of Amarillo, TX, and Mark Doerfler and wife Nadine of San Antonio, TX, and countless loving family members and friends.
