Lora "Denise" Atkins, 62, of Dumas, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 in Amarillo.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday December 28, 2016 at Comanche Trails Church of Christ, 2700 SE 34th Street Amarillo, TX 79103 with David Pounds, Minister officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 14200 I-27, Amarillo, Texas 79119. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur St., Amarllo, Texas 79103.
Denise was born May 11, 1954 to Anna Lee Abbott and Earl Floyd "Bud" King, Sr. in Amarillo. Denise graduated from Caprock High School in 1972. Denise was blessed with her first son Guy "Duce" Pigg, Jr. in July 1974. Denise married the joy of her life Alan "Terry" Atkins in April 1977 in Las Vegas. Denise was blessed with her second son David Alan Atkins in October 1983.
Denise was proud of being a tough girl and sharing stories of growing up around local wrestlers. Denise loved watching wrestling, Star Wars and Marvel Comics with her husband and boys. She loved anything that had Tweety Bird and The Incredible Hulk on it. Denise loved spending time with her family every chance she had. Denise was employed at the Pac-a-Sac in Dumas for 12 years. Denise enjoyed her job, but mostly loved greeting each of her customers.
Denise is preceded in death by her parents.
Denise is survived by her husband Alan "Terry" Atkins of Dumas; her son Guy "Duce" Pigg, Jr. married to Nina; her son David Alan Atkins; sisters Rita Veal married to Charles, Joy Reeves married to Harry; brothers Earl Floyd "Sonny" King, Jr. married to Brenda, Michael King, Sr. married to Mary; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 5-6:00pm at Angel Funeral Home.
