Louisa Almanzar

Louisa Almanzar, 69, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2018 at New Life Embassy Church, 406 S. Pittsburg with Pastor Spike Maldonado officiating.  Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur.

Louisa was born on June 2, 1948 in Amarillo to Henry and Paula Almanzar.  Louisa loved to play bingo and work crossword puzzles.  She also loved shopping at thrift stores.  Louisa was quite funny and always had a way with words.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.  She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Nellie Hernandez.

Louisa is survived by one daughter, Christina Ruiz and her fiancé Frank Luna of Amarillo; one son, John Edward Mejia and wife Elizabeth of Amarillo; three sisters, Rosa Almanzar-Solis, Dominga Rodriguez and husband Raynaldo, and Mary Almanzar, all of Amarillo; three brothers, Joe Almanzar of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Richard Mendez, and Tony Almanzar, both of Amarillo; sixteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
