Martha Loza, age 73, of Amarillo died Saturday, November 14, 2015.
Rosary will be said 6:00 PM today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1210 SE 11th. Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 17 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Jose Gomez as celebrant. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home.
Martha was born May 23, 1942 in Amarillo to Lucas and Rafaela Cruz. Martha was a proud graduate of Amarillo High School class of 1961 and spent one year at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in 1961, studying Spanish. In 1967, she attended a Head Start Teachers Training at Oklahoma State University. She married David Loza on October 7, 1967 in Amarillo. In May 1969 she earned three Bachelor of Arts degrees from West Texas State University. Martha was a honorary member of LaCorte Guadalupanas and was the Director of Religious Education at Our Lady of Guadalupe for 35 years. She also earned many other honors and awards too many to mention. Martha was an exemplary Catholic Christian dedicated to God, her faith and her family. Martha embraced life by living out her faith through the Corporal Works of Mercy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Antonio, Francisco, Johnny and Ignacio Cruz.
Martha is survived by her husband; two daughters, Vanessa Eaton and husband Leric, of Lubbock and Valerie Delavigne and husband Matt, of Gilbert, AZ; five sisters, Ester Guillen of Amarillo, Carmen Flores of Pomona, CA, Lupe Escoto and husband Jesse of Amarillo, Lucilla Alonzo of Amarillo, and Amalia “Molly” Hernandez of Apex, NC; eight grandchildren, Jaiden, Jizelle, Leric David, Jarah, Matthew, Brielle, Katherine, and David; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
The family suggest memorials be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Building Fund, in lieu of flowers.
