Marvin Burel Bones, 96, of Amarillo, Texas, moved to his heavenly home on January 27, 2025. He was born on January 30, 1928, at The Circle O Ranch in Potter County to Lucian and Mary Inez (Crawford) Bones. He was the beloved brother of Doris Atchison and Vivian Bowlin.
Marvin grew up with a natural curiosity for the world and a love for the outdoors. He valued the simple things: the early morning quiet on the water, gardening, the laughter of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a well-prepared fish fry enjoyed in good company. Marvin believed in God, the importance of family, and the beauty of life’s small moments. He, along with his wife Patricia (Elsea) Bones, built a family rooted in love, faith, and joy. He was a devoted father to Susan Bentley and David Bones. After the passing of his wife, God blessed Marvin with a second love and companion, Fran Overstreet. They enjoyed traveling together and making cherished memories wherever they went. Marvin’s stories of his travels always highlighted his gratitude for the beauty of the world and the people he met along the way.
Marvin was a cherished Grandad to his six grandchildren—David Bentley, Michelle Camp, Kendra Fedako, Kellie Thompson, Natalie Bones, and Kyle Bones—as well as five great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered as a man of quiet strength and endless kindness who lived his life with the same grace and patience he showed while waiting for the perfect catch. May his memory ripple through the lives of all who knew him. Though we will miss him deeply, we take comfort in knowing he has found eternal peace in the presence of the Lord.
“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” -Matthew 4:19
Per the family's request, please do not order flowers, but leave a memory of Marvin below for them to read.
