Mary Ailene Mitchell

Mary Ailene Mitchell, 87, of Amarillo died August 13, 2021.

Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Encounter Church, 200 Tascosa Rd. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home.

Mary was born April 23, 1934 in Lyons, IL to her parents Ivan and Wilma Marcum. She was one of 6 children. She was not only a wonderful loving mother but also raised her children as a dedicated, supportive father. She was a kind and strong woman who raised her children with care. Mary was a paraprofessional for 10 years in California and retired in Amarillo after 26 years with River Road ISD.

She had the biggest hear and dedication for her students to grow academically. Mary was a woman who had a great sense of humor, and cared for all her friends and loved her family deeply. She was a 2nd mother to her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary thrived off of her children fulfilling productive lives. She has always loved and trusted the Lord her entire life. There is peace, comfort and rest knowing she is now with our loving Lord Jesus Christ.

Mary is preceded in death by her mother, Wilma; father, Ivan; sister, Betty Camp and son, Mark Souza.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Shelly Harris, Sheila Rodriguez and Sandy Diana; 2 sons, Gary Castillo and Bruce Castillo; 3 nieces, Melanie, Laurie and Teresa; and many grandchildren.

Praise our Lord for his faithfulness, kindness and love!
