December 24, 1941 — September 4, 2019

Mary Leah Talbot, age 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, in Amarillo, TX.

Family and friends, and others whose lives Leah touched are invited to attend her Memorial Mass on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington, Amarillo, TX. The family will be receiving visitors after the service at 2712 S. Fairfield, Amarillo, TX.  Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home.

She was born December 24, 1941, in Galveston, TX, to Ernest and Mildred (Savoie) Babin. She graduated from St. Anthony High School in Beaumont, TX in 1959 and attended Lamar University, also in Beaumont. She married James “Jim” Talbot on November 25, 1961, in Beaumont. She worked many different jobs during her adult life, but loved the “job” of wife and mother the most. Leah will be remembered for her beautiful smile and enchanting sense of humor. Her strength really came through when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and she beat it to become a 10-year survivor.

She always enjoyed making new friends while staying in touch with family and friends that lived away.  Leah’s hobbies included sewing, quilting, painting with watercolors and various other crafts. She always cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Leah was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her daughters, Becky Miller and husband, John, and Toni Talbot of Amarillo, TX; son, Jay Talbot of Amarillo, TX; brother, Jake Boaz, of Round Rock, TX; sister, Carrol Price and husband, Al, of San Antonio, TX; granddaughters Jennifer Cannon and husband, Marty, LeeAnn Spier and husband, Hunter and grandson John W. Miller and wife, Tracey, all of Amarillo, TX; 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Panhandle Breast Health, 301 S Polk, Suite 740, Amarillo, TX 79101 in Leah’s memory.
