Maudine Smith Pugh of Amarillo, Texas died Thursday, March 11, 2010. Memorial services will be held at noon on Monday, March 15th at the Chapel of Trinity Fellowship, 5000 Hollywood Road. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur.Maudine was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and niece. She never turned away a family member in need, and was always ready with a smile, hug and a good meal. She loved to cook, can and grow vegetables and fruit – her favorites were apricots and tomatoes. She was the best cook in Texas (or Oklahoma), she loved music – and she tried to inspire her love of cooking and music into all of her children and grandchildren. Maudine also had a life-long love of athletics, from playing basketball in high school, to bowling championships, and always daily walks or swimming. Maudine was recently preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, W.E. “Pug” Pugh. In some of her final words, she said she was getting ready to dance the waltz across Texas – we can only hope that she is dancing with Pug. Many people said that Maudine was the grandest lady that they ever knew – her family agrees whole-heartedly and we will miss her dearly. Survivors include her daughters: Brenda Roberts of Novato, CA; Marilyn Ellis of Grand Prairie; Becky Kayser of Amarillo; a son, Tim Pugh of Amarillo; one sister, Adora Scott of Lazbuddie; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Odyssey Healthcare, 6900 W. Interstate 40, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106.
