Nabor “Joe” Ulibarri, Sr. age 82 died in Amarillo on January 6, 2010Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 8 at Angel Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Rex Nichol of St. Martin’s Catholic Church as celebrant. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery.Nabor was born November 13, 1927, to Manuel and Eduvijen Aragon Ulibarri in, Las Vegas, New Mexico. He married Margarita Gonzales on December 16, 1945 in Tucumcari, NM. Mr. Ulibarri retired as a concrete contractor. He had been a long-time member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and served in the rosary ministry and the Cursillista.Nabor was a very happy person who loved traveling, going to the mountains to camp, playing pool, and he enjoyed trading his vehicles. He was always playing with the children and calling them by nick names. Nabor was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by all.Preceding him in death are his parents; a sister, Mary Flores in 1997; and a brother, James “Sonny” Ulibarri in 2002.Survivors include his wife, Margarita; two sons, Ernie Ulibarri and wife, Heather of Bryan, Texas; and Joe Ulibarri, Jr. and special friend Patricia Belcher of Amarillo; five grandsons, Angel, N.J., and Stevan Ulibarri all of Amarillo; Monty Ulibarri of Canyon Lake, TX and Bret Mier of Denver; five granddaughters, Daphne Sanders and Carrie Gimpel of Amarillo; Tamera and Tara Mier of Denver; and Anna Tolliver of Los Lunas, NM; 11 great-grandchildren; Joe was also survived by many other loving family members and friends whom he loved dearly, especially his first born niece, Emelia Baughman.The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1210 SE 11th, Amarillo, TX 79102, Odyssey Hospice, 6900 I-40 West, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106, or to your favorite charity.
