Rafaela Acosta

Rafaela “Bita” Acosta, 78, of Amarillo died Sunday, January 2.  Her Mass will be said Wednesday, January 5 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 908 S. 2nd, Lamesa, Texas at 2:00 PM with the funeral service at 3:00 PM, Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating.  Rosary will be at the church on Tuesday at 7:00PM.Rafaela was born in San Antonio to Rafael and Crisanta Minjarez November 11, 1932 and married Gabriel on her birthday, November 11, 1958.  They have lived in Amarillo since 2000.  Her family remembers her as a strong and loving mother, a devoted Catholic with a special fondness for praying the Rosary.  She loved to cook and everyone in her family enjoyed her special creations and dishes.She was preceded in death by her parents, son Rafael and 3 brothers; Paul, Juan and Otimo.She is survived by her husband, Gabriel of the home, 2 daughters; Corina Gamez and husband Victor of Lubbock and Teresa Flores and husband, Jerry of Amarillo; 3 sons; Gabriel Acosta of Amarillo, Martin Acosta and wife Beatrice of Lubbock and Alberto and wife Wawe of Lamesa; 2 brothers, Rojelio and Wale both of Lamesa.  Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
