Raymond Maestas

Raymond 'Papo' Maestas passed away June 6, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas.

Visitation will be held at Angel Funeral Home, starting at 9:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 10 with a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. Graveside Service at Llano Cemetery will be Thursday, June 11 at 11:00 a.m.

Raymond was born on September 14, 1956 to Nazario and Ascencion Maestas. He was a hard worker from the time he was young man. Papo was one of the best Steel Builders around, and many family members had the opportunity to work for him. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Dallas Cowboys, baseball, pool, and wrestling, which was something he also enjoyed watching with his dad as a kid. Raymond loved watching his grandsons play baseball and just loved sports in general. He lived life to the fullest and was always the life of the party with his contagious laugh. Raymond was many, many things, but overall he was an amazing Dad, Papo, brother, uncle, and friend.

Raymond was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers, Tony Maestas and George Maestas, sisters, Elizabeth Zavala and Susie Cortez, a son Daniel Rios, and a grandson Mathias Dominguez.

He is survived by his sisters, Rosie Ornelas and husband, Arturo, Nellie Hernandez and husband, Alfredo, daughters, Stephanie Castillo husband Jacob, Ashley Rios, Ashley Musquiz, sons Carson Maestas, Zackary Maestas, Eric Musquiz, Jeremy Musquiz, thirteen grandchildren, and one great grandson.

He was loved by so many and will truly be missed. The world has lost a great man and it will not be the same without him.
