Russel Ledet, age 94, formerly of Kempner, TX, died December 30, 2024, in Amarillo.
A private family service will be at a later date.
Russel was born July 26, 1930, in New Orleans, LA, to his parents, Wilcliff and Beulah Pitre Ledet. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Army and proudly served from July 30, 1948, until he was honorably discharged on July 3. 1956.
Russel married Grace Miner in Massachusetts on November 9, 1950. They were married for seventy-two years before her death.
He worked as a store manager for K&B Drug Store in Louisiana for many years before retiring. In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, Russel moved from Louisiana to Kempner to be closer to his only son, Robert, and his wife, Eileen.
Russel moved to Amarillo ahead of Robert and Eileen on June 1, 2023, as a Ussery-Roan State Veterans Home resident. He enjoyed the friends he made there and being closer to his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Ledet; his wife, Grace, in 2023; a brother-in-law, Keith Valenti; and by a grandson-in-law, Jim Price.
Russel is survived by his son, Robert, and wife, Eileen; three sisters, Betty Valenti, Brenda Ledet, and Laura Ledet; a brother, Bob Ledet; his three grandchildren, Mandy Price, Robby Ledet and his wife Denise, and Christina Dowling and her husband Steven; by eight great-grandchildren, Paige, Jimmy, Kyndel, Lance, Krista, Zayne, Kadence, and Nicole; and by two great-great-grandchildren, Briar and Sunni.
