Sarah Renee Martinez

November 4, 1974 — May 7, 2020

Our beloved Sarah Renee Martinez returned to her heavenly home on May 7th 2020.

Sarah was 45 years young, born and raised in Amarillo, Texas.

She was survived by her mother Kimberly Martinez, her father Saul Martinez, her daughter Lela Hearn, her sons Mason and Michael Martinez, her sisters Sam and Jennifer Martinez, her brother Anthony Martinez, her granddaughter Kenlee, other extended family and her dear ride or die friends Jessica, Francis, Misty and Rick.

Sarah was exceptional for many reasons; what was remarkable about her, was her ability to get back up and give it her best throughout many lifelong struggles, she was such a fighter.  Her love for her children amplified this determination about her; even though it was not always easy, because of their love, she always made effort to do better.

For those who really knew Sarah understood, to love Sarah was to love her journey because in the end; that is what made her who she was and who she became.  Sarah loved the little simple things and never asked for anything.  She wanted her children to feel safe and experience the love she was uncertain on how to provide, so she unselfishly stayed in their lives from a safe distance.   Her journey happened for a reason and although we may not know or may never know why certain things happened the way they did, we can be certain to not forget her and to make changes in our own lives so that she may see from above what she wanted (love and acceptance) for those she loved.

Sarah was loyal, strong, unique, resilient, beautiful, hardworking and funny.  She will be profoundly missed and her ability to make others laugh and to keep moving upstream against harsh waters will resonate in our souls.

Not everyone will ever know all of what Sarah faced throughout her life, but we know in our hearts, it was more than one should have to endure. Sarah would want us to learn from this and carry forward in her absence what we can in her name.

So for Sarah’s legacy, we shall……

Always LEAD with LOVE in all we do

Practice compassion and mercy for ourselves and others

Be someone’s most loyal friend

As we know better, do better

Hustle, do what we need to do to progress

Sarah, we will see you on the other side of the stars and we all want you to know you are so loved, always have and always will be.  You will forever be in our hearts and souls.

Psalms 23

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
