Sylvia was born December 20, 1936 in Wilson, Oklahoma to her parents Elijah and Bessie Carlton Lewallen.  She graduated Lone Grove High School.  On September 17, 1960 she married her love, T.C. Montgomery in Tulia, Texas.  Throughout her life, Sylvia was a caretaker and homemaker.  She was devoted to her Christian faith who attended Fairfield Assembly of God and a woman who was fiercely protective of those she loved.  She enjoyed working in her garden and caring for her grandchildren.

Sylvia was the life of the party, her sly smile would light up the room.  She loved to sing, dance, play dominoes and work puzzles.  She never spoke ill of anyone or anything and had a wonderful way of always being positive and uplifting.  There were times that she could be quite the flirt; catching people off guard and bringing a smile to their face.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Juanita Munson and Ilene Louthan; three brothers, Splawn, Lenwood, and  Daris Lewallen; her husband T.C. Montgomery and by a great grandson, Shawn Haskins.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Phillips of Amarillo; a brother Aubrey Lewallen and his wife Shirly of Manteca, California; her granddaughter, Vanesa Haskins; her great grandchildren, Kyle Phillips, Mikael Cooper, Kayla Widener and Crystal Gonzalez; her great-great grandchildren, Avi Haskins, Noei Gonzalez and Mikka Cooper; nephew, Robert Chavez and his wife Gina; and niece, Debbie Zachry.
